Defining the Line...

between stupidity and just plain good ole ignorance...

Ever since I read Waiter Rant I figured that I could amuse the masses by writing a blog about administration and the day to day interactions I have with people. It seems the lower you go on the totem, the uglier side of humanity you see. The uglier people get, the stupider people seem. Their expectations of you become unrealistic especially if you are "good" at what you do.

Survival tactic at the office #1:

Piss people off so they have no expectations of you. Don't bend over backwards even if it is technically your job description and people think that you can move mountains when all you notice is that they really don't know how to fill out the simpliest of paperwork.

Survival tactic at the office #2:

Kill people with kindness. Offer them solutions to their unrealistic expectations so that maybe JUST MAYBE they'll clue in about how outlandish they are being.

Today, I'm supposed to help someone come up with ideas for enforcing parking down in our company stalls. Well... there's a guy that sits there all day doing nothing that is supposed to be doing this where all he does is places a piece of paper on the windshield of supposedly offending car and then walks away. YOU ARE PARKED ILLEGALLY. OH NOES!!!111! RUN!

If you want to enforce parking then sit down there with a bat and smash the windshields of the cars that are parked illegally. Or here's another suggestion: Actually call the bylaw officers in every once a while to hand out tickets.

So yeah, there's nothing in this blog to define the line between ignorance and stupidity - so far as I'm concerned they usually go hand in hand. All I'm looking for is a vent so that perhaps one day I'll actually smile on the way to work...
